Undivided Bengal was represented as zamindaries in the form of aristocracy under British Indian Govt. Chakdighi was a prominent erstwhile zamindari located in modern day Burdwan district of West Bengal. The family of Singh Roys are Rajput in origin but have been continuously staying in Bengal as landlords for a continuous 350 years spanning 14 generations.
