Yes, more than a century ago, Indumadhab Mallick from Bhawanipur Mallick family of Calcutta invented the first steam cooker known as ICMIC COOKER where food marinated and stored in a tiffin carrier was steamed inside an elongated metal body with the help of burning charcoal underneath. It is still used even today and one can be bought from Gariahat Market in Kolkata.
